About Pay What You Will

For every Avant Bard performance a limited number of tickets are Pay What You Will, which means you can name your price. We do this because we believe universal stories need universal access. If you’re looking for edgy and intimate theatre that won’t break the bank, consider joining us through Pay What You Will.

You can buy PWYW tickets online or over the phone beginning the Monday before each performance for a small minimum, or you can buy PWYW tickets at the door with no minimum. PWYW tickets can be exchanged for any performance in the same week, subject to availability. All Avant Bard tickets including PWYW are General Admission; seating is first-come first-served.

If you’d like to know how much folks generally pay for Pay What You Will, our overall average ticket price is $20. But it’s really up to you–and any amount is welcome.

How To Purchase Pay What You Will Tickets

It’s easy. The Monday before every performance, a limited number of Pay What You Will tickets will become available. Visit our ticketing page, then select the show you want to attend that week. When you do, you will then be asked to select a ticket price. You can also call the box office at 703-418-4808 (12-6 PM, M-F).

To reserve a ticket online or over the phone requires a small minimum which covers our ticketing system costs, but there is no minimum to purchase Pay What You Will tickets at the door. Door sales begin an hour before each curtain, and are first-come, first-served. After that point, there is no wait-list for Pay What You Will tickets and they must be purchased in person.
