Avant Bard’s box office is accessible by telephone 12 pm to 6 pm Monday through Friday at 703-418-4808 or via email at email@example.com. Our box office is also accessible by phone one hour before each curtain. To purchase tickets online, please visit our ticketing page.
Please know that because we are a small staff, we may not be able to respond immediately to all telephone inquiries. If you leave us a voicemail, we guarantee we will get back to you within 24 hours.
Where is your theatre, and how do I get there?
Avant Bard performances will take place at Gunston Arts Center Theatre Two in Arlington, VA, unless otherwise specified. For more detailed directions, please visit our plan your visit page.
What does “Pay What You Will” mean, and how does it work?
It means what it sounds like—you can name your ticket price at the door. In an effort to keep our performances affordable and accessible, all of our previews are PWYW, and we offer PWYW performances on Thursday evenings and Saturday matinees during the run of every show. You can reserve a PWYW ticket in advance online with a $10 minimum.
Pay What You Will tickets are sold at the door on a first-come, first-served basis. We advise that patrons plan to arrive early to ensure a seat.
Avant Bard believes in an accessible and affordable theatre for all. We offer Pay What You Will performances on Thursday evenings and Saturday matinees of every show (see above). Because of this policy of universal affordability, Avant Bard does not offer additional senior, military, or student discounts.
I have accessibility needs, what do I do?
Avant Bard ensures that we will always have ADA-accessible seats for those who need them. If you need to reserve an ADA-accessible seat, please call the box office at 703-418-4808 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Avant Bard also offers Assisted Listening Devices (ALDs) for all performances. If you need an ALD, please ask the box office for one when you check in at your performance. You will need to give the box office manager a valid ID to reserve your device; the ID will be returned when you return the device after the show.
Do you offer sign interpretation, or large-print/braille programs?
At this time, Avant Bard is unable to offer these services regularly. However, if you need these services please contact Quill Nebeker, Director of Audience Engagement, at 703-418-4808 or email email@example.com well in advance of the performance you plan to attend, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
I bought tickets but can no longer attend that date. What are my options?
Avant Bard does not offer refunds for single ticket purchases. Single tickets can be exchanged for a different date with at least 48 hours notice, but are subject to upgrade fees depending on the performance date. Avant Bard Passport holders can exchange their tickets at any time, and are never subject to upgrade fees. Can I see a seating map? Do you have reserved seats?
Avant Bard shows are intimate and immersive. Our seating layout changes from show to show, so we don’t have a standard seating map to share. All Avant Bard performances are general admission, meaning there is no assigned seating.
Avant Bard does reserve first class seating for our Passport holders. If you are an Avant Bard Passport holder and would like to request specific reserved seating (e.g., aisle seating, front or back row), please call the box office at 703-418-4808 or email Quill Nebeker, Director of Audience Engagement at email@example.com. Otherwise, we’ll be sure to reserve you a prime seat with a great view.
What do I do if I’m running late?
At 10 minutes before curtain, Avant Bard reserves the right to release unclaimed tickets in the event of a wait list. If you’re running late but still plan on attending, please call the box office at 703-418-4808 to ensure your tickets are held for you.
Typically, Avant Bard holds an easily accessible section of seating for latecomers, and plans a late seating break to accommodate this need (subject to change, depending upon the performance). If you were expecting a reserved seat but are running late, we can’t guarantee you’ll get that reserved seat, but we’ll do our best to get you in.
Does Avant Bard offer group sales packages?
Avant Bard offers groups of 10 or more a group rate of $10 per ticket to any performance (that’s 70% off!). Groups are also offered reserved seating in the section of their choice, and are able to coordinate an Unscripted Afterchat with members of the creative team at no extra cost.
