Caesar and Dada (World Premiere)
by Allyson Currin
Directed by Lee Mikeska Gardner
How do you find your home when worlds collide? In post-World War I Zurich, dictatorial director Franz Lichter is the impresario of Theatre for Truth, which stands at the vanguard of realism onstage. But when ambitious American actress Lily Brik arrives on the scene, Franz’s traditional production of Julius Caesar begins to veer dangerously into the realm of that strange new art movement: Dada.
Ms. Currin’s writing has been praised as “intellectually provocative, artistically satisfying, and powerfully authentic.” Co-directing the show and designing the set is Steven T. Royal, Jr., who also designed the highly-praised production of WSC’s most recent hit, No Man’s Land by Harold Pinter.
