A story of love, betrayal and uncontrollable compulsions, William Shakespeare’s timeliest tragedy unfolds against the backdrop of war in the Middle East and the struggles of returning veterans to cope with their traumas.
Members of an elite military unit are forced to confront the evil in their midst, as they grapple with a litany of recent horrors: a beloved general confesses to murder; a trusted aide is implicated in multiple deaths; and the entire community—shocked and shamed by its complicity of silence—launches a highly unofficial inquest into what went wrong and why.
The only major Shakespearean tragedy that Avant Bard has never produced, the show features Acting Company members Chuck Young, Sara Barker, Frank Britton and Jay Hardee, in a psychological thriller staged in Arlington’s intimate Theatre on the Run.
